His fourth studio album, which was self-titled and was released in July 2021. His fifth studio album, Ramona Park Broke My Heart, was published in April 2022.

Staples was born in Compton, California, but his mother chose to raise him in North Long Beach because she was concerned about the high rate of violent crime in Compton. Staples moved to North Long Beach when he was a young child. Staples is the youngest of five siblings, with two brothers and three sisters making up the rest of the family. Staples was raised in a low-income household.

According to Staples, his time spent at Optimal Christian Academy, which he attended from the fourth through the eighth grade, was a formative and rewarding experience. When Staples was a senior in high school, his mother dispatched him to Atlanta to live with one of his sisters.

Six months of his high school education were spent there. After moving back to Southern California, Staples enrolled in a number of different high schools, some of which were Jordan High School in Long Beach, Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Opportunity High School homeschooling, Esperanza High School in Anaheim, and Kennedy High School.

Staples has been forthright about the fact that he was a member of street gangs when he was a child and is involved with speaking to the youngsters in his neighborhood about the perils of the gang lifestyle. Staples has claimed in the past that he does not engage in risky behaviors such as drinking alcohol or using illegal substances and that he leads a straight-and-narrow lifestyle.

His ancestry is from both the United States and Haiti, and he currently resides in Southern California.A supporter of the Los Angeles Clippers, Staples cheers for them. In his song “Rain Come Down,” he has made a reference to the feminist French-American sculptor Louise Bourgeois, and he has expressed his admiration for the painter and photographer Richard Prince. He is also an enthusiastic follower of contemporary art.

Dijon “LaVish” Samo and Chuck Wun, together with Staples’s cousin Campbell Emerson, were the ones who made the discovery. Staples was invited on a vacation to Los Angeles by LaVish, during which he made friends with members of the Odd Future collective, including Syd the Kyd, Mike G, and Earl Sweatshirt.

Despite the fact that he had no intention of becoming a rapper, he did make a few cameo appearances on their songs, the most notable of which being “epaR” off Earl Sweatshirt’s mixtape Earl, which was released in March of 2010. After making guest appearances on a few other songs, he made the decision to pursue a career in rap. On December 30, 2011, he made his official debut with a mixtape that he titled Shyne Coldchain Vol. 1. It was made available on applebird.com.

He and Michael Uzowuru worked together to create a mixtape that was released in October of 2012 and was titled Winter in Prague. Uzowuru was solely responsible for its production. In 2012, after spending time in Samoa, Earl Sweatshirt traveled back to the United States and got back in touch with Vince. After that, Earl connected him to Mac Miller, who is also an American rapper.

Stolen Youth was the name of a mixtape that Miller and Staples released in June of 2013. Miller released it under the identity of Larry Fisherman. The mixtape features guest performances from artists such as Miller, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, Da$H, Hardo, and Joey Fatts, who is also a member of Vince Staples’ Cutthroat Boyz crew.

After the album Stolen Youth was made available to the public, he went on the road as a supporting act for Mac Miller’s Space Migration Tour. In the liner notes of Earl Staples’s debut studio album, Doris, it was revealed that Staples had recently secured a recording contract with the hip hop record label Def Jam Recordings. Staples made three appearances on the album, including the hit “Hive.”
