Chad Stahelski Bio, Life, and Career:

Chad Stahelski is a film director and stuntman from the United States. He was born on September 20, 1968. He is most known for directing the picture John Wick, which was released in 2014, as well as its three subsequent sequels. Stahelski has worked in the film industry in a variety of capacities, including as a stuntman, a stunt coordinator, and a second unit director. He was involved in the production of Alex Proyas’ The Crow (1994). Both Stahelski and his partner stuntman Jeff Cadiente acted in place of the actor Brandon Lee during the filming of the scene. Prior to this, on March 31, 1993, while filming, Lee was accidentally wounded on set by defective blank ammunition.

Lee later passed away in the hospital during surgery. Special effects were used to superimpose Lee’s face onto Stahelski. This pioneering CGI technique paved the way for deceased actors to complete projects or appear in new performances . Along with David Leitch, Stahelski established the motion design business 87Eleven in the year 1997. His future co-star in John Wick, Keanu Reeves, was one of his stunts doubles in The Matrix films, and he eventually became the franchise’s stunt coordinator.  In 2009, Stahelski worked with David Leitch as the second-unit director and stunt coordinator on Ninja Assassin.

In 2014, Stahelski and Leitch collaborated on the production of the action thriller film John Wick, which was based on a script written by Derek Kolstad. Stahelski acted as the sole director for the film’s 2017 sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, and again for the third film, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019), and the fourth film, John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023).

He also served as the second unit director for the reshoots of Birds of Prey. In March 2023, Stahelski clarified that the fourth film in the John Wick franchise would be titled John Wick: Chapter 4. Stahelski was married to Heidi Moneymaker, a fellow stunt performer, but they divorced in 2018.  She worked as Scarlett Johansson’s double in Black Widow, and she appeared in Stahelski’s film John Wick: Chapter 2.
