Greg Davies Bio, Life and Career:

Gregory Daniel Davies is a Welsh comedian, actor, presenter, and writer. His full name is Gregory Daniel Davies (/devs/ DAY-viss; born May 14, 1968). His most famous parts are those of Greg from “We Are Klang,” Mr Gilbert from “The Inbetweeners,” Ken Thompson from “Cuckoo,” the Taskmaster from “Taskmaster,” Dan Davies from “Man Down,” and Paul Wickstead from “The Cleaner,” which he also authored. He has made appearances on shows such as Mock the Week, Would I Lie to You?, Fast and Loose, and Live at the Apollo. Davies received a nomination for the Best Male Comedy Performance category of the BAFTA Television Awards in 2013 for his work in the television show Cuckoo.

On May 14th, 1968, Gregory Daniel Davies was born in St. Asaph, which is located in Denbighshire, Wales. His Welsh parents were living in England at the time of his birth, but his father drove his mother across the border into Wales to ensure that his son would be born there. This was done so that his son would be able to play rugby for the Wales national team.  He considers the town of Wem to be his home because that is where he spent his childhood.  The city of Porthmadog is where his father’s family originated. He makes the claim of lineage from Owain the Great, just like a lot of other people in North Wales.

Thomas Adams School, located in Wem, was Davies’ first educational stop before moving on to Brunel University in London to study English and Theatre. Before beginning a career in comedy, he was a drama teacher for a total of thirteen years in a variety of secondary schools in the surrounding area, including Sandhurst School in Sandhurst, Orleans Park School in Twickenham, and Langleywood School in Slough.

In 2003, Davies made a cameo appearance on the children’s television show Dick & Dom in da Bungalow, where he played a character entitled “Massive Greg” who was a parody of himself. In 2005, Davies appeared in a series of advertisements for Channel 4’s coverage of The Ashes on television, playing a character that was a parody of the cricketer W. G. Grace. In 2007, Davies was nominated for the Chortle Awards three times, once in the category of “Breakthrough Act” (for his solo stand-up performance), once in the category of “Best Sketch, Variety or Character Act,” and once in the category of “Best Full-Length Show” (both as part of sketch team We Are Klang).

In the British coming-of-age comedy series The Inbetweeners, which aired on E4, Davies played the role of Mr Gilbert, head of Sixth Form, beginning in 2008. In addition to that, you may catch him in the sequels The Inbetweeners Movie (2011) and The Inbetweeners 2 (both released in 2012). (2014). At the Edinburgh Festival in 2010, Davies’ very first solo stand-up performance, titled “Firing Cheeseballs at a Dog,” was considered for a nomination for the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards.

After that, he took the show on his very first tour the following fall, and it was a huge success. In addition to that, he was considered for the Malcolm Hardee “Act Most Likely to Make a Million Quid” Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Rik Mayall played the role of Davies’s character Dan’s father in the Channel 4 sitcom Man Down, which began airing in October 2013 and starred Davies as a man who despises his work as a teacher.

Before the first series had aired, Channel 4 commissioned an additional 25-minute Christmas special, and during Davies’s live tour for “The Back of My Mum’s Head,” the announcement was made that there will be a second series. After Mayall passed away in June of 2014, Davies arranged a meeting with Channel 4 to talk about the continuation of the show. Mayall was supposed to have a more significant part in the second series, but that didn’t wind up happening.

After some time, Channel 4 revealed that Man Down would be coming back for a second series in the year 2015. The classroom in which Davies taught at Sandhurst School is depicted in the episode using the same setting as that classroom. Davies has been the host of the panel game show Taskmaster ever since it debuted in July 2015. In the comedy-drama A Gert Lush Christmas, which aired on BBC Two during the month of December 2015, he played Tony, who was the uncle of the characters played by Russell and Kerry Howard. In the Doctor Who Christmas Special 2015 titled “The Husbands of River Song,” he played the role of King Hydroflax on Christmas Day.

During his Magnificent Beast UK tour in November 2017, Davies recorded a stand-up comedy special for Netflix at the Hammersmith Apollo. The programme was later released on Netflix. In 2018, it was made available to the public under the name You Gorgeous Beast. In the year 2021, Davies penned and performed in the comedy series The Cleaner, which aired on BBC One. In addition to that, he is the host of the revived version of “Never Mind the Buzzcocks” that airs on Sky Max every week. Their height of 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 metres) makes Davies one of the tallest people in the world In London, he makes his home in the Kennington neighbourhood. Between the years 2007 and 2015, he was in a relationship with the politician Liz Kendall of the Labour Party.
