Greg Gutfeld Bio, Life and Career:

Gregory John Gutfeld is a comedian, political commentator on the libertarian side of the political spectrum, and author from the United States. He was born on September 12, 1964. He is the host of the late-night comedy talk show Gutfeld! and from May 2015 until March 2021, he hosted a Saturday night edition of Gutfeld! called The Greg Gutfeld Show. After that, it was announced that the show would move to weeknights. Additionally, Gutfeld is a panellist and one of the five co-hosts of the political talk show known as “The Five.” The Fox News Channel is where you can catch both of his shows.

Between the years 2007 and 2015, Gutfeld served as the host of the late-night talk show series 3 AM Red Eye, which was also broadcast on the Fox News Channel. Gutfeld was the son of Jacqueline Bernice “Jackie” (née Cauhape) and Alfred Jack Gutfeld and was born in the city of San Mateo in the state of California. He went to the all-boys Roman Catholic Junipero Serra High School and the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1987. He was raised a Catholic and attended both of these institutions.

In an interview conducted in 2009, Gutfeld explained that he began to experience a shift in his political thinking while he was still a student at the university: Being around liberals influenced me to become more conservative, and being around conservatives influenced me to become more libertarian. You come to the conclusion that the two opposing political ideologies, the left and the right, have one thing in common: the moralising that they engage in is the aspect of their ideology that is the most problematic.

After graduating from college, Gutfeld gained valuable experience working as a research assistant for the conservative author R. Emmett Tyrrell at The American Spectator. After that, he became a member of the writing team at Prevention magazine and served as an editor for a number of publications published by Rodale Publishing. In 1995, he started working for Men’s Health magazine as a staff writer. In 1999, he was given the position of editor-in-chief at Men’s Health magazine. David Zinczenko took over in his stead a year later after he was fired.

After that, Gutfeld was promoted to the position of editor-in-chief at Stuff, which was a publication formerly owned by Dennis Publishing. The number of copies printed rose from 750,000 to 1.2 million during his tenure as publisher. In 2003, Gutfeld hired numerous dwarfs to attend a conference of the Magazine Publishers of America on the subject of “buzz,” with the instructions to be as noisy and irritating as possible. The conference was focused on the theme of “buzz.” The stunt was successful in garnering notoriety, but it ultimately led to Gutfeld’s termination shortly thereafter; he later joined Dennis Publishing as the head of “brain development.”  Between the years 2004 and 2006, he served as the editor of Maxim magazine in the United Kingdom. After readership dropped while Gutfeld was in office, his contract was not renewed when it was up for renewal.

From the time that The Huffington Post first went online in 2005 until October of the following year, Gutfeld was one of the first contributors to post there. His coworkers at The Huffington Post, including Deepak Chopra, Cenk Uygur, and Arianna Huffington, were common targets of his commentary.  The late-night chat show “Red Eye” on the Fox News Channel was hosted by Gutfeld beginning on February 5, 2007, and he held this position for an entire year. The show, which lasted for one hour, was initially broadcast at 2:00 AM Eastern Time on weekday mornings, Monday through Saturday, and at 11:00 PM on Saturday evenings.

On the other hand, beginning in October 2007, the show began airing at three in the morning, Monday through Saturday, although it continued to air at eleven o’clock at night on Saturday evenings. Bill Schulz worked as Greg Gutfeld’s sidekick from 2007 until 2013, and Andy Levy was the show’s ombudsman during that same time period. While working at Stuff magazine, Gutfeld had been Schulz’s colleague, and Levy had been Gutfeld’s fellow blogger at The Huffington Post. The political talk show The Five on Fox News airs weekdays at 5:00 PM Eastern Time, and Gutfeld has been a co-host and panellist on the show since it premiered on July 11, 2011.

Gutfeld quit Red Eye in February 2015, and Tom Shillue took over as host of the programme after he vacated the position.  On May 31, 2015, Gutfeld started hosting a brand new weekly late-night talk show on Fox News called The Greg Gutfeld Show. The show aired on Saturdays at 10:00 PM Eastern Time (ET), and it was called The Greg Gutfeld Show. It was announced in February 2021 that the show would begin airing on weeknights at 11:00 P.M. Eastern Time (ET) beginning in the second quarter of that year.

It was revealed on March 10, 2021, that the new weeknight show would be called Gutfeld! and that it will debut on April 5 of that same year.  In August of 2021, Gutfeld! surpassed The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the nightly ratings, thereby becoming the late-night talk show in the United States with the highest ratings overall. It had more viewers than The Late Show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! combined, with an average of 2.12 million viewers per night.
