Greg Laurie Bio, Life, and Career:

Greg Laurie is an American evangelical author, pastor, and evangelist. He was born on December 10, 1952, and now serves as the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, which is situated in Riverside, California. Laurie’s birthday is December 10. In addition to that, he is the creator of Harvest Crusades. Greg Laurie was born in Long Beach, California, in the United States. The narrative of how he became a Christian and how he got his start in ministry will be told in the film Jesus Revolution, which will be released in 2023. He was raised by a single mother who had seven marriages; they moved frequently, sometimes to vastly different locations such as New Jersey and Hawaii.

He worked as a newspaper boy for the Daily Pilot in Los Angeles, California.  Laurie was not raised in the Christian faith or in an environment that was associated with a church. In 1970, when Laurie was 17 years old, he became a devout Christian at Newport Harbor High School under the ministry of evangelist Lonnie Frisbee, as the Jesus Movement was exploding in Southern California. In 1973, at the age of 20, Laurie was given the opportunity to lead a Bible study of 30 people in Riverside, California, under the mentorship of Calvary Chapel pastor Chuck Smith.  The group quickly grew in size, and that same year, Laurie founded the Harvest Christ .

Harvest Crusades is an organization that performs large-scale evangelistic rallies all around the United States. Laurie created the organization in the year 1990. In 2013, Laurie served as the Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Committee.  He is also a chaplain for the Newport Beach Police Department.  Laurie serves on the board of directors for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Organization. During the presidential inauguration of 2017, President Donald Trump invited a number of prominent evangelical church leaders, including Pastor Laurie, to take part in the National Prayer Service that was held at the Washington National Cathedral .

At the urging of Laurie, who believed that the Southern Baptist Convention runs significant evangelistic activities on a national and worldwide scale, Harvest Christian Fellowship became a member of the Southern Baptist Convention in the year 2017. The church continues to have close ties with Calvary Chapel. At a time when all churches in California were required to temporarily close their doors because of COVID-19, Harvest Christian Fellowship and Greg Laurie started the online church program “Harvest at Home.”

It became one of the most-watched internet worship services in America very quickly, averaging over 200,000 viewers each week during the pandemic. The church continues to have close ties with Calvary Chapel. As then-President Donald Trump tweeted on Palm Sunday 2020 that he would be watching Harvest at Home, the webcast saw record viewership that week, with over 1,300,000 people logging in to watch.

On October 5, 2020, Laurie acknowledged that he had been infected with COVID-19 and issued a statement in which he said, “Unfortunately, the coronavirus has become quite political. I have a dream that one day, all of us will be able to put aside our ideological differences and work together to do all in our power to eradicate this disease and restore our country. Laurie has written more than 70 books, including The Upside-Down Church (1999), which she co-authored with David Kopp and which won a Gold Medallion Book Award in the “Christian ministry” category in the year 2000.
