Kid Ink Bio, Life, and Career:
American singer-songwriter, rapper, and record producer Brian Todd Collins is best known by his stage name ‘Kid Ink’ (he formerly went by the moniker ‘Rockstar’). Collins began producing beats at the age of 16 after attending after-school music programs and being inspired to do so by the music and work ethic of Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, and Timbaland. Collins was 16 years old at the time. He was responsible for producing songs by Sean Kingston, Nipsey Hussle, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, amongst other artists.
At the age of 22, he launched his career as a professional rapper. On February 1, 2010, he debuted his career with the release of his first official mixtape titled “World Tour.” In 2011, he released his very first single that was not included on an album; the song was titled “Hero.” On June 12, 2012, he released his first studio album, which was titled “Up & Away.” The ‘US Rap Albums’ list placed it in the second spot when it was released. On May 28, 2013, he released his debut extended play (EP) titled “Almost Home,” which reached its highest position on the same list at number four.
Chris Brown, Meek Mill (“Bad Ass,” 2013), Tyga (“Iz U Down,” 2013), Jeremih (“Me Too,” 2014), and Jamie Foxx (“Baby’s in Love,” 2015) are among the artists with whom he has worked collaboratively. He was one of the featured artists in the ‘Freshman Class’ issue of ‘XXL’ magazine in the year 2012. His song “Ride Out” was featured on the soundtrack of the movie “Furious 7,” which was released in 2015.
Kid Ink has produced music that defies categorization from the very beginning of his career, and he has consistently refused to conform to any limitations placed on his sound. In 2009, he began performing under the stage name “Rockstar,” and in 2010, he distributed his mixtape “World Tour” independently and alone to online media channels. Following the success of the mixtape, he earned a recording contract with the “Tha Alumni Group label.”
In 2010, he began using the stage name “Kid Ink,” and he commemorated the event by releasing his second mixtape, titled “Crash Landing.” After releasing his third mixtape, titled “Daydreamer,” in June of the same year, with original productions from a variety of artists like as Lex Luger, Tha Bizness, and Jahlil Beats, he went on to release his fourth mixtape, titled “Wheels Up,” in October. This mixtape featured musicians such as Nipsey Hussle, Tyga, 2 Chainz, and Travis Porter.
His debut studio album, titled ‘Up & Away,’ was issued on CD and LP on June 12, 2012, in addition to being made available online. The album had a total of six songs, three of which were titled ‘Time of Your Life,’ ‘Lost in the Sauce,’ and ‘Drippin,’ respectively.
DJ Ill Will, ‘The Arsenals,’ DJ Spinz, Ned Cameron, and several other individuals were the producers. The album reached the third spot on the ‘US R&B/Hip-Hop chart after its release. His sixth mixtape, titled ‘Rocketshipshawty,’ was made available for download on November 21, 2012.
Kid Ink made the announcement on Twitter in January 2013 that he had signed a recording contract with RCA Records. Soon after, he issued a new track titled “Bad Ass.” On May 28, 2013, he released his EP titled “Almost Home,” which also served as his debut on a major label. The second single taken from the EP was titled “Money and the Power,” and it was featured on the soundtrack of the video game “NBA Live 14,” as well as the reality sports documentary television series “Hard Knocks” broadcast on HBO.
Additionally, it was selected to be one of the theme songs for this year’s “Wrestlemania 31.” During the event, Kid Ink did a live rendition of the song while Skylar Grey and Travis Barker provided support for him.
On January 7, 2014, he released his second studio album under the title “My Own Lane.” The album earned the number two place on the ‘US R&B/Hip-Hop’ chart after it debuted at number one on the ‘US Rap Albums’ chart. The album was awarded the Gold certification by the ‘RIAA’ on February 9, 2016.
The album’s lead song, titled “Show Me,” which has a hook performed by Chris Brown, was awarded the status of double Platinum by the RIAA. On August 26, 2014, he released his sixth mixtape, which was titled “4B’s” and was a collaborative effort with “Batgang.”
His third album recorded in a studio was titled “Full Speed,” and it was published on January 30, 2015, by ‘Tha Alumni Music Group,’ ’88 Classic,’ and RCA Records. It topped the ‘US Rap Albums’ chart as well as the ‘US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and it was accompanied by four singles, including ‘Body Language’ (which featured Usher and Tinashe), ‘Hotel’ (which included Chris Brown), ‘Be Real’ (which featured Dej Loaf), and ‘Dolo’ (which featured R. Kelly). His second single to be awarded the Platinum certification was titled “Be Real.”
