Sean Larkin Bio, Life, and Career:

Seán Larkin is an Irish art curator and art educationist. He was born in 1949 and has worked extensively in Sligo and his native Dublin. Larkin has held top appointments at numerous Irish art institutions, including the director of the Dn Laoghaire School of Art and Design. Larkin started his professional life in 1978 working in high managerial positions. He chaired the Working Group on Practice-based Research in the Arts, which was an advisory committee established by the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) and the Irish Universities Quality Board.

He was the representative of the Institutes of Technology in the Republic of Ireland. In addition to his work for HETAC, he served as an external examiner and assessor in the field of fine art on a range of panels concerned with the validation of programmes. Larkin was the head of the Department of Art and Design at the Dn Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) from 1998 to 2004.

During this time, he investigated abstract expressionism. Prior to this post, he was the head of the Department of Humanities at the Atlantic Technological University Sligo.  At the same time, he worked with public and private collections, including the Arts Council Collection. Between the years 2005 and 2012, Larkin served as the dean of the School of Creative Arts at the IADT. He became a member of The Model, Sligo in 2016, and later described his time there as “a catalyst for continuing creative enquiry, creative practise, and related research loosely based on cultural signposts. He has also held exhibitions for the Hamilton Gallery in Sligo.

Larkin is the current chairman of the Sligo International Choral Festival. He joined the board in 2012 and “moved quickly through the ranks.” For World Homeless Day in 2016, Larkin invited the High Hopes Choir, Ireland’s first homeless choir, to join the festival in Sligo. Larkin is also the current chairman of the Sligo International Choral Festival. Larkin chose the pieces to be displayed in Water, an online exhibition at the Olivier Cornet Gallery in Dublin in the year 2020. He is a former host of the reality TV show PD Cam on A&E and currently works as an analyst on A&E’s Live PD. When some time passed, he started working as an analyst for the A&E programme Live PD. Soon after, he became the host of his show called “PD Cam,” which broke down footage from police body cameras. In the episode, he was known as “Sticks” due to the popularity he enjoyed in the communities that he used to patrol around. When Sean made the arrest of a man who was wanted for murder, he was unfairly accused of engaging in improper conduct.

As a result, people and investigators began questioning Sean about the case as well as his decision to retire as a result of it.
