Vincent D’Onofrio, whose full name is Vincent Phillip D’Onofrio, is an American film and television actor. He was birth on June 30, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. D’Onofrio is noted for his performance’s depth and passion and his intimidating physique. Even though the majority of people are familiar with him for his part as police investigator Robert Goren in the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001–11), he has a massive body of work in which he plays eccentric characters in films that are only modestly successful at the box office.

D’Onofrio may have been born in Brooklyn, but he spent most of his early life th Hawaii and Colorado. After his parents split, he lived with his mother in Miami, where he learned to do magic tricks from the proprietors of a magic store. During the summers, he worked with his father behind the scenes at a community theater. After his parents divorced, he lived with his mother near Miami.

After completing his high school education in 1977, he enrolled at the University of Colorado and started performing in community theater performances in Boulime. D’Onofrio dropped out of college after spending less than two years there and relocated to New York City, pursuing a career in acting. In addition to working as a bouncer, he took acting classes at the Actors Studio after appearing in several off-Broadway productions; they debuted on Broadway in the drama Open Admissions in 1984.

Before D’Onofrio got his big break, his first film part was in the adolescent comedy The First Turn-On!! (1983), and before that, he portrayed a young thug in It Don’t Pay to Be an Honest Citizen (1985). Both of these films were released before he got his first significant role. In the movie directed by Stanley Kubrick about the Vietnam War and titled Full Metal Jacket (1987), he played an essential part as the unsuitable Marine recruit called Gomer PylReviewers have singled out his performance as being particularly engaging and as a high point of the movie. D’Onofrio also appeared in the films Adventures in Babysitting (1987) and Mystic Pizza (1988), which had more significant roles for the actor.

D’Onofren enjoyed a fruitful career as a character actor, appearing in movies and playing parts that varied from unremarkable to highly acclaimed. In Oliver Stone’s film JFK (1991), he portrayed an eyewitness to President John F. Kennedy’s killing;d in Robert Altman’s film The Player (1992), he showed an aspiring screenwriter. In addition, he was romantically linked with the actress Greta Scacchi from about 1989 to 1993; the couple’s daughter, the actor Leila George D’Onofrio, was born not long before the breakup of their relationship.

In the 1993 film Household Saints, which also featured Tracy Ullman and Lili Taylor, D’Onofrio had a starring role. Other parts he has played include Orson Welles in the biopic Ed Wood (1994) directed by Tim Burton, a police officer in Kathryn Bigelow’s dystopic Strange Days (1995), a jilted husband in Feeling Minnesota (1996), and a writer for the pulp magazine Weird Tales in The Whole Wide World (1996) and performed notably remarkably in the cult class Men in Black (1997), playing the role of an alien-occupied yokel.

Homicide: Life on the Street was one of the few television shows in which D’Onofrio appeared, and their role in the program earned him a nomination for an Emmy Award in 1997. His character was a guy stuck between a subway train and the platform. After that, he played the role of Abbie Hoffman in Steal This Movie (2000) and acted with Matthew McConaughey in Richard Linklater’s film The Newton Boys (1998as about a family of bank robbers. In Happy Accidents (2000), he effectively portrayed a guy who could have returned from the future and co-starred with Marisa Tomei. In the first season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, which aired in 2001, D’Onofrio was the car of Detective Goren, a compelling lead character.
After that, he played in other student films produced at New York University.

In the 1984 production of ‘Open Admissions,’ he portrayed the role of Nick Rizzoli. After waiting another two years, he was cast in the part of “Full Metal Jacket.” In the 1990s, he had roles in about 30 different movies, some of the most notable of which were “JFK,” “The Player,” and “The Whole Wide World,” which he also produced. D’Onofrio was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his role as Orson Welles in the film ‘Ed Wood,’ which also garnered him a nomination for the film ‘Household Saints.’

D’Onofrio’s booming movie career was not hindered by the fact that he starred in a television series. During this period, he played roles such as a drug dealer in the dark comedy The Salton Sea (2002), the father of the title character in Thumbsucker (2005), a Mississippi disc jockey (uncredited) in Cadillac Records (2008), and a criminal who is a police officer kills the money, he is holding in Brooklyn’s Finest (2009). All of these performances took place during this period. In 2004, he wrote, directed, and appeared in a short film called “Five Minutes, Mr. Welles,” an endeavor that, when paired with his job on television, led to his being hospitalized for fatigue. The title of the film was “Five Minutes with Orson Welles.”
