Anderson Cooper Bio, Life, and Career:
Anderson Hays Cooper is an American broadcast journalist and political analyst. He was born on June 3, 1967, and he is presently the anchor of the news broadcast show Anderson Cooper 360° that airs on CNN. In addition to his responsibilities at CNN, Cooper is a correspondent for the program 60 Minutes which airs on CBS News. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1989, he began his career as a war correspondent by touring the world and filming footage of conflict zones for Channel One News. In 1995, Cooper was employed by ABC News as a journalist; however, he quickly grabbed additional gigs around the network and, for a period of time, worked as a co-anchor, hosted a reality game show, and filled in as a host for a morning talk show.
Cooper joined CNN in 2001, and in 2003, he was given his own show, Anderson Cooper 360°; ever since then, he has continued to present the show in its current iteration. He gained a reputation for his on-the-ground reporting of breaking news events, and it was his coverage of Hurricane Katrina that caused a significant spike in his fame. Cooper was presented with the National Order of Honour and Merit, the highest accolade that can be bestowed by the government of Haiti, in recognition of his coverage of the earthquake that occurred in Haiti in 2010. In addition to that, he was the host of his very own syndicated daytime talk show called Anderson Live from September 2011 till May of 2013.
Cooper is the recipient of 18 Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, and the Edward Murrow Award, which was presented to him by the Overseas Press Club in the year 2011. He came out as gay in 2012, becoming “the most prominent openly gay journalist on American television” in the process. He is a member of the Vanderbilt family. In 2016, Cooper made history by becoming the first LGBT person to moderate a presidential debate. Since then, he has been honored with multiple GLAAD Media Awards. Cooper was the younger son of author Wyatt Emory Cooper and artist Gloria Vanderbilt.
He was born in Manhattan, which is located in the city of New York in the United States. His maternal grandfather was the millionaire equestrian Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt of the Vanderbilt family, and his maternal grandmother was the socialite Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt. Reginald’s patrilineal great-grandfather was the business magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt, who founded the prominent Vanderbilt shipping and railroad fortune
Due to Gloria’s ten-year marriage to conductor Leopold Stokowski, he has two half-brothers who are older than him. Their names are Leopold Stanislaus “Stan” Stokowski (born in 1950) and Christopher Stokowski (born in 1952). In the episode “Finding Your Roots” that aired in 2014 on the Henry Louis Gates Jr. show, “Finding Your Roots,” Cooper discovered that one of his ancestors, named Burwell Boykin, was a slave owner in the southern United States.
Cooper’s experience in the media began at an early age. Diane Arbus took photographs of him while he was a baby for the publication Harper’s Bazaar. Cooper appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show on September 17, 1970, when he was just three years old. His mother was also in attendance.[source: missing citation] When he was nine years old, he pretended to be someone else on the game show, To Tell the Truth. Between the ages of 10 and 13, Cooper was a model for Ford Models, appearing in campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Macy’s.
Wyatt suffered many heart attacks while he was in the operating room for open-heart surgery. He passed away on January 5, 1978, when he was 50 years old. The book Families that Cooper’s father wrote is something that Cooper views as “sort of a guide on… how he would have wanted me to live my life and the choices he would have wanted me to make,” according to Cooper. As a result, I have a strong sense of affinity with him. Cooper majored in political science at the University of Virginia, where he spent two summers working as an intern at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
He sought a career in journalism despite being without any academic degree in journalism. He considers himself a “news junkie since he was in utero,” as he puts it himself. After completing his first piece of correspondence work in the early 1990s, he took a vacation from reporting and moved to Vietnam, where he remained for an entire year. During that time, he attended Vietnam National University in Hanoi to study the Vietnamese language.
After receiving his degree from Yale, Cooper made several attempts to secure an entry-level position with ABC answering telephones, but he was ultimately unsuccessful. Cooper, who found it difficult to break into on-air reporting, made the decision to fabricate a press pass with the assistance of a buddy in order to gain access to more events. Cooper was working as a fact checker for the small news agency Channel One at the time. Channel One is responsible for producing a youth-oriented news program that is aired to a large number of junior high and high schools across the United States. After that, Cooper entered Myanmar on his own using the counterfeit press pass, and he met with students who were fighting the government of Burma.
After completing his reporting in Myanmar, Cooper moved to Vietnam for a year to attend classes at the University of Hanoi and study the Vietnamese language. Cooper started shooting and putting together reports about Vietnamese life and culture after he was successful in convincing Channel One to let him carry a Hi8 camera with him. These reports were shown on Channel One. In 1992, he shot documentaries in Somalia, Bosnia, and Rwanda, among other places.
