April Richardson Bio, Life, and Career:

April Richardson is a stand-up comedian who was born in the United States on May 1, 1979. She appeared on the show Chelsea Lately on a consistent basis, both as a round table guest and as a contestant on the @midnight segment. The city of Atlanta in Georgia is her hometown. Richardson was born in the Georgia city of Savannah. She lived there for a number of years in the city of Manchester in England. In 1997, she received her diploma from Lassiter High School, which was located in Marietta, Georgia.

She attended Georgia State University and graduated there. In addition to performing regularly in Los Angeles, Richardson has appeared at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, Aspen Laff Festival, Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival, North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, and Boston’s Women In Comedy Festival. But at the same time, I was really into punk rock when I was growing up — I don’t want to say, “I’m not the typical Southerner,” because I don’t think that stereotype actually exists. When people out here (on the West Coast) find out I’m from Georgia, their first assumption is that I’m a redneck version of whatever stereotype they have about Southerners. That infuriated me to no end.
