Christopher Goffard is a distinguished American journalist, novelist, and podcaster who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.  He is currently a staff writer for the Los Angeles Times and was a nominee for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel. He has also written for other publications.  More than 50 million people have subscribed to his podcast, which goes by the name Dirty John. Goffard spent his childhood in Los Angeles, California, and earned a degree in English from Cornell University after attending that institution. When he first started out in journalism, he worked for The St. Petersburg Times, where he covered city hall, law enforcement, and court beats.

The $40 lawyer” was the final piece that Goffard wrote for the St. Petersburg Times. Goffard started working for the Los Angeles Times as a staff writer at the beginning of 2006. His first novel, “Snitch Jacket,” was published in 2007, and the following year, he was a finalist for the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel. 2011 marked the publication of his second non-fiction book, titled You Will See Fire: A Search for Justice in Kenya. Peter Orner, writing for The Rumpus, praised it as “one of the finest non-fiction novels set in Africa in recent years” and called it “tense and frightening.”

Although it is non-fiction, the book reads like a well-constructed and thrilling crime novel, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The LA Times described it as “a riveting and powerful story, thoroughly researched and recorded.”In 2010, he was a member of the reporting team that won the Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of the Bell scandal.
