David Otunga Bio, Life and Career:

David Otunga  is a former professional wrestler and American actor. For his time while working with WWE, Otunga is most recognised. He finished second in the first NXT season. He was also a founding member of both The Nexus and The New Nexus and was the only person to be there for the whole time the stable existed in both of its iterations. He earned two reigns as the WWE Tag Team Champion as a member of the group, sharing one with John Cena and one with Michael McGillicutty. Moses, a Kenyan father, and Billie, a European American mother, were both teachers when Otunga was born in Elgin, Illinois.  Of the three kids, he is the youngest. After graduating from Larkin High School, Otunga went on to the University of Illinois where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

After receiving his diploma, he relocated to New York City and took a position as lab manager at Columbia University’s Cognitive Neuroscience Center.  He eventually earned his law degree from Harvard in 2006 and passed the Illinois bar test.  Otunga joined Sidley Austin, one of the biggest legal firms in America, after finishing law school and passing the bar test.

Otunga worked at Sidley Austin from May 2005 through October 2007, according his LinkedIn page. Otunga worked at Sidley Austin from May 2005 through October 2007, according his LinkedIn profile[1]. On February 16, 2010, it was revealed that Otunga will compete on the first season of NXT under his own name, with R-Truth serving as his storyline coach, after a number of dark bouts on both Raw and SmackDown.  On the first NXT programme, which aired on February 23, he easily demolished Darren Young. On the broadcast the following week, Young beat Otunga in a rematch due to intervention from CM Punk, who served as Young’s coach. As the bout, Otunga became irritated and turned heel after R-Truth attempted to provide his support but was pushed away. R-Truth disagreed, confronting and fighting with Otunga behind the scenes. Otunga earned the opportunity to host Raw the next week by defeating the other NXT Rookies in an 8-man over the top rope battle royal on the March 30 NXT edition.

Otunga and John Cena competed in a tag team match for the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship against ShoMiz on the April 5 edition of Raw. But later on in the contest, he declined to tag in and left, giving ShoMiz the victory.  On May 11, he was promoted to second position in the second Pros Poll.  Wade Barrett defeated Otunga to take second place overall in the competition at the season finale on June 1. After losing to Barrett at Hell in a Cell, Cena felt compelled to join The Nexus.  Otunga and Cena teamed up to defeat Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre for the WWE Tag Team Championship at the pay-per-view Bragging Rights on October 24.

When Barrett told Otunga to let Slater pin him the next night on Raw, Otunga and Cena lost the Tag Team Championship to fellow Nexus members Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater. On November 5, Otunga, who had been criticising Barrett’s leadership in recent weeks, led Nexus to invade SmackDown without Barrett and Cena.  Barrett disapproved of Otunga’s choice to represent The Nexus on SmackDown and had him justify his membership a week later.  Otunga kept his place in Nexus by defeating Edge in a lumberjack match on the SmackDown programme on November 12 when Kane got involved. A month or so later, Otunga, supported by the rest of Nexus, began to revolt against Barrett.

Otunga threatened Barrett with expulsion from Nexus if he didn’t rehire Cena the next week after the group disregarded his direct commands and left him. With the aid of interference from other New Nexus members Mason Ryan and Punk, Otunga and Michael McGillicutty defeated Kane and The Big Show to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship on the May 23 edition of Raw.  On the SmackDown programme airing on July 29, they faced The Usos and won their lone title defence.  Otunga and McGillicutty wrestled against Santino Marella and Zack Ryder on the August 1 edition of Raw without any Nexus gear or armbands and with all Nexus emblems removed from their TitanTron, essentially ending the New Nexus when CM Punk departed it after his WWE contract ended on July 17.   Air Boom defeated Otunga and McGillicutty for the Tag Team Championship on the August 22 edition of Raw. Otunga and McGillicutty’s squad secretly split up after a little dispute with Jerry Lawler.

Then, when John Laurinaitis counselled him to assist displeased wrestlers in preparing a lawsuit against Triple H, WWE’s chief operating officer, Otunga launched a new plot highlighting his knowledge in law. He also began carrying a thermos filled with coffee. Otunga and Laurinaitis met with Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, and Vickie Guerrero to address the issue on the SmackDown show airing on September 30. Next a “vote of no confidence” for Triple H as General Manager of Raw the following week, Otunga left Triple H’s match with other wrestlers, Divas, and referees.

On the November 29 SmackDown Holiday Special, he made a comeback to the ring and lost to Randy Orton in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight. He cancelled a #1 Contenders match between The Big Show and Mark Henry on the December 23 edition of SmackDown because Henry had a leg injury; as a consequence, Show knocked Henry out. Otunga competed against The Big Show on the December 26 and December 30 episodes of Raw and SmackDown, however he lost both contests.  On the SmackDown programme airing on January 13, 2012, he defeated Santino Marella to get his first victory since returning to singles competition. He defeated Ezekiel Jackson in back-to-back victories on the February 20 edition of Raw and the February 21 episode of Super SmackDown.

Otunga will lead Laurinaitis’ side in the fight for control 12-man Tag Team match at WrestleMania, it was revealed on the March 12 edition of Raw. The winning team at WrestleMania XXVIII was Team Johnny. Otunga unsuccessfully challenged Santino Marella for the US Championship on the Raw show of April 16. In order to be with his fiance, Jennifer Hudson, during William Balfour’s murder trial in Chicago, Otunga took time off from WWE programming from April 23 to May 14.
