How to Contact Joey Diaz: Phone Number

Joey “CoCo” Diaz is a Cuban-American stand-up comedian, actor, and podcaster. He was born José Antonio Dáz on February 19, 1963, but is better known by his stage name, Joey “CoCo” Diaz. After beginning a career in stand-up comedy in 1991 in the areas surrounding Colorado and Seattle, Diaz moved to Los Angeles in 1995 and began his acting career. He has since appeared in a number of films and television shows, such as My Name Is Earl, The Longest Yard, Spider-Man 2, Grudge Match, and The Many Saints of Newark. 2010 was the year that Diaz’s appearances on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience began to catapult him to the forefront of public consciousness. Since then, he has hosted Uncle Joey’s Joint in addition to his own podcast, The Church of What’s Happening Now with Lee Syatt, which he presented between the years 2012 and 2020.

José Antonio Diaz was born in the city of Havana, which is located in Cuba. He moved to the United States when he was a small child and he spent his childhood in North Bergen, New Jersey, a town in which he recalled that he was the sole Cuban-American resident at the time. His mother owned and operated a pub as well as a lucrative numbers gaming business. As a child, he was brought up in a Catholic household and thoroughly enjoyed hearing the legends of Saints Michael and Francis of Assisi.  Diaz received accolades for his performance in the performing arts while he was a student at both McKinley School and then North Bergen High School. He received his degree in the year 1982.

On June 18, 1991, Diaz gave his first performance as a stand-up comedian at the Comedy Works in Denver. The evening was headed by Matt Woods. When Diaz was scheduled to open for Troy Baxley in Boulder, Colorado, in April 1992, he took cocaine before coming on stage, which resulted in a performance that Diaz later referred to as “a disaster.” After that, he stopped consuming the chemical in the hours leading up to his performance. Diaz entered the Beck’s Amateur Comedy Competition after honing his performance and became victorious in the competition. He was initially unsuccessful in winning another competition; however, after the winner was discovered to have stolen jokes made popular by Jerry Seinfeld, Diaz was awarded first place.

Diaz asserted that Comedy Works manager Wende Curtis had promised him a flight to Los Angeles and a showcase place at The Comedy Store for the benefit of the store’s owner Mitzi Shore, but he had not gotten any of these things. [After that, Diaz took part in a competition of the same nature in Seattle, Washington, and ended up finishing sixth out of forty. In 1994, Diaz went back to the Comedy Works, where he discovered that Curtis had begun a training program for comics, which Diaz ultimately decided to participate in. The process began with collaborative writing sessions at Wood’s house, which were then immediately followed by performances in the club that same evening. Diaz was excluded from the Comedy Works for a time by Curtis, but the exclusion was lifted after the two of them reconnected many years later.

Joey Diaz is the stage name of Joe Antonio Diaz, who works in the United States as an actor, comedian, and host of a podcast. He is a regular guest on the show ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ in addition to hosting the podcast ‘The Church of What’s Happening Now.’ Diaz was the only child of his parents, who were both teachers, and he was born in Havana, Cuba. After some time, the family relocated to the United States. He had considered becoming a bookmaker in the beginning, but he ultimately decided against it after realizing that it was an unethical method to make a living. He had no one to care for him when he was a child, so he turned to a life of crime and even spent some time behind bars.

He entertained his fellow convicts with stand-up comedy sketches while he was serving his sentence in the correctional facility. After some time had passed, he decided to take a comedy class, after which he competed in and won the Beck’s Amateur Comedy Competition. This served as the impetus for him to pursue a career in acting. His debut on the big screen was in the character of an athlete in the comedic sports film “Basketball.” In addition to that, he had a minor part in the television programs NYPD Blue’ and ‘My Name is Earl.’ After that, he went on to make cameo appearances in movies like “American Gun” and “Spider-Man 2,” among others. More recently, he appeared in the romantic comedy-drama film ‘Rules Don’t Apply,’ which was directed by Warren Beatty.

When Diaz was just three years old, his father passed away unexpectedly. When he was 16 years old, Diaz discovered his mother dead in their home and that was the day she passed away. During the time he was a teenager, he was taken in by four families in the North Bergen area, and he counts about twenty people as those who assisted him. However, due to his irresponsible behavior and propensity to get into problems, he was forced to transfer from one family’s house to another. During this time period, Diaz started using narcotics and engaging in criminal activity.  Diaz explains that the sense of humor of his contemporaries was a significant factor in the development of his comic career, as were the comedy albums of Richard Pryor.

Diaz relocated to the state of Colorado in 1982. However, the increasing pangs of homesickness he experienced drove him back to New Jersey in 1984, originally to celebrate his birthday but ultimately to spend the next eighteen months there. As his dependence on cocaine increased during this time period, he would subsequently refer to it as “the worst 18 months of my life” and “the biggest mistake of my life.” Diaz left New Jersey in June 1985 and moved back to Colorado to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts in Economics program at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He was miserable during his time there and eventually left his job to pursue a career selling roofing, which brought him financial success but did not alleviate his unhappiness. As a result of his arrest in 1988 for the crimes of kidnapping and aggravated robbery, he was sentenced to four years in jail and served only 16 months of that time.

During the period that Diaz spent in jail, he entertained his fellow inmates with stand-up comedy routines whenever the projector that was used for the weekly movie viewing event malfunctioned. It took Diaz an additional three years before he attempted stand-up comedy, despite the fact that he was frequently told of his potential. Diaz later referred to his entry into the field of employment as “the last resort” due to the fact that he had numerous other occupations in the past. Following the viewing of the film “Punchline” in 1988, Diaz responded to an advertisement in a Denver newspaper for a stand-up comedy course selling for $37 and developed a blue comedy act as a result. He worked as a doorman at Wit’s End before he ever performed his first standup routine there.

In 1995, Diaz relocated from Colorado to the city of Los Angeles, California, in an effort to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. He utilized the fact that he had to cut off communication with their daughter as a result of his divorce from his first wife as a source of inspiration so that he “could come back and make her proud.” Diaz made an appearance in North Bergen on November 4, 2007, in order to assist in raising money for the North Bergen High School basketball team’s clothes. It’s Either You or the Priest, Diaz’s stand-up special, was released in April 2012 to coincide with the release of the Where I Got My Balls From the documentary, which Diaz was promoting at the time. It topped the comedy charts on Billboard in both the UK and Canada, and it was also the most downloaded comedy album on iTunes. The on-demand subscription platforms Seeso and Comedy Dynamics both carried Diaz’s debut hour-long stand-up comedy special, entitled “Sociably Unacceptable,” when it was released in December 2016.
