How to Contact Nick Di Paolo: Phone Number

Nicholas Rocco Di Paolo is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, radio presenter, and podcast host from the United States of America. He was born in either 1961 or 1962. He is best known for his appearances as a regular on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, the Comedy Central Roasts, Opie and Anthony, and The Howard Stern Show, in addition to his recurring roles on Louie and Horace and Pete, for which he is known as the host of The Nick Di Paolo Show podcast. He is also known for his appearances as a regular on The Howard Stern Show. Nick and Joan Di Paolo, both from Danvers, Massachusetts, were Di Paolo’s parents when he was born there. After completing his high school education and receiving his diploma in 1980, he enrolled at the University of Maine.

There, he played running back for the school’s football team and earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing four years later in 1984. He said, “I cheated my way through with a 2.3-grade point average, but I choose this time as ‘the best years of my life.’ ” He became a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. His brother also attended the institution and worked alongside Gary Thorne to provide play-by-play commentary for the hockey games that the Maine Black Bears played. After receiving his diploma, Di Paolo found work in a variety of settings, such as an office job in marketing and a position as a door-to-door salesman selling meat and seafood.

During this time, the stand-up comedy culture in the area surrounding Boston was picking up, and a buddy of Di Paolo’s encouraged him to get on stage and perform. Di Paolo was a lover of stand-up comedy and he was affected by watching comedians perform on shows such as The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, The Mike Douglas Show, The Merv Griffin Show, and The Tonight Show with Robert Klein. David Letterman also had an impact on him. His lack of enjoyment in the role of a salesman “drove me to the stage,” despite the fact that he had wanted to give it a shot for numerous years but “didn’t have the courage.” In the summer of 1986, Di Paolo performed his debut routine during an open mic night at Stitches club in Boston. He had traveled there from a family cookout with “about 22 beers in me.”

He recalled that his five-minute act had gone “quite well,” and he desired to pursue it full-time; however, his salesman job required a temporary relocation to Rhode Island. In the spring of 1987, he relocated back to Boston and immediately began making frequent appearances at various open mic evenings held throughout the city. According to Di Paolo, the development of his stand-up routine took several years. Between the years 1987 and 1992, he performed stand-up comedy at many clubs in the New England region. Some of these clubs include the Comedy Vault, the Comedy Connection, and Stitches.  After two years, he played his first engagements in New York City, one of which was a recurring performance at a venue called Catch a Rising Star.

He referred to his performance at this early period as “a rapid-fire approach, four or five punches tied to every joke.” He used this to explain how his act was performed. After relocating to New York City, Di Paolo’s act grew more political as a result of his reading of local newspapers and his analysis of the perspectives presented in each publication. During his first year as a stand-up comedian, he booked almost 300 performances and hired Barry Katz as his manager. After that, Di Paolo became roommates with the comic Louis C.K. while he was residing in New York City. Di Paolo moved to the Los Angeles area in the year 1992. During this time, he honed his stand-up comedy routine at several comedy clubs in the area and appeared in a number of films and television shows. After that, he went on to make an early appearance on national television on The Arsenio Hall Show and was featured on HBO’s Young Comedian’s Special, which was centered on comedians who are on the verge of breaking out into the mainstream. While living in Los Angeles, Di Paolo met comedian and actor Artie Lange at an audition for a pilot in which Lange was cast as the main character. Di Paolo and Lange became fast friends.

Born This Way, which was Di Paolo’s first stand-up album, was released in 1999. It was recorded at The Comedy Store in La Jolla, which is located in the state of California. Comedian Colin Quinn was the one who came up with the name for it. After living in Los Angeles for five years, Di Paolo had been thinking about moving back to New York City when Chris Rock offered him a position as a writer on The Chris Rock Show, which was filmed in New York City. He agreed, and he wrote for both the first and second seasons. In 2001, he and the team of writers were submitted for consideration for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Program. They were not successful in receiving this nomination. It was Di Paolo’s second time being nominated for an Emmy Award. He went on to work contributing to comedy writing after his stint on the show, which he considered to be one of the most successful periods of his career. By 2001, Di Paolo had made Queens his permanent home.
