Mabel Mcvey Bio, Life, and Career:

Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey is an English and Swedish singer and songwriter. She was born on February 19, 1996, but is more commonly referred to by her mononym, Mabel. In 2017, she released her track “Finders Keepers,” which eventually reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart. This was the beginning of her career as a successful recording artist. Her first studio album, titled High Expectations, debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart and was later awarded the platinum certification.

It had three tracks that reached number one on the UK singles chart: “Don’t Call Me Up,” “Mad Love,” and “Boyfriend.” In the year 2020, she was awarded the Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist. She is the youngest child of English music producer Cameron McVey and Swedish singer Neneh Cherry. Her mother is an English singer and her father is an English music producer.

Mabel is the step-granddaughter of the American jazz musician Don Cherry.  She is also the granddaughter of the Swedish-Sierra Leonean highlife and afrobeat artist Ahmadu Jah and the niece of the Swedish singer Eagle-Eye Cherry. All of these relationships are established through Mabel’s mother. Other members of the Roudette family that can sing include her sister Tyson, her half-sister Naima, and her half-brother Marlon. When Mabel was two years old, her family moved back to Notting Hill, which is located in West London, England. The song drew the attention of BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac, who chose to feature it as her Tune of the Week. Mabel has now moved to London. Mabel quickly reached an agreement with Universal Records for a recording contract. She released the single “Finders Keepers” featuring British rapper Kojo Funds in March of 2017, following the releases of the singles “My Boy My Town” and “Thinking Of You” in 2015 and 2016, respectively. “Finders Keepers” eventually made it into the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart in late 2017. Her first extended play, titled Bedroom, was released by her in May 2017.

Mabel’s first mixtape, titled Ivy to Roses, was published not long after the lead singer for the project, titled “Begging,” which was issued by Mabel in October 2017. She worked with Not3s on the song “My Lover” throughout the month of December. Mabel served as the opening act for English singer Harry Styles on the European portion of the second leg of his tour in support of his first studio album in January 2018, following the release of a second Not3s collaboration titled “Fine Line” in January 2018. Following the conclusion of her tour with Styles, she went on to headline her own tour throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.

During the month of June, she contributed to the song “Ring Ring” along with the American rapper Rich the Kid and the British DJ Jax Jones. After the release of her single “One Shot” later that year, she collaborated with the British girl group Four of Diamonds to write the song “Blind.” At the 2019 Brit Awards, which took place in January 2019, Mabel received a nomination for British Breakthrough Act. Ivy to Roses was re-issued by her with updated artwork for the album’s cover as well as the addition of all of the singles that had been released in the time since the first edition’s debut.
