Nick Toon Bio, Life, and Career:
Nicholas Adam Toon is a former wide receiver for the American football team. He was born on November 4, 1988. He attended the University of Wisconsin for his college football career and was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the NFL Draft in 2012. He is the son of Al Toon, who played wide receiver for the New York Jets in the past. Toon had his high school education in the nearby town of Middleton, Wisconsin.
After being honored with a spot on the second team as a junior in 2005, he was named to the first team of All-state players in 2006 after playing wide receiver for the Middleton Cardinals football team. In 2005, he was named to the second team. As a kick returner, he was named to the first team All-area not once but twice.
He will be participating in the first-ever All-American Offense-Defense Bowl. As a junior, he hauled in 26 passes for a total of 425 yards and six touchdowns. During his senior season, he was the team captain and led his squad to a total of 13 touchdowns by recording 51 receptions for 799 yards, 17 returns for 430 yards, and a total of 13 touchdowns. In addition, Toon earned a letter in track and field.
Toon was recognized as one of the best players in the United States by SuperPrep and was listed in the top 30 players in the Midwest. According to Rivals.com, he was ranked as one of the best 25 wide receivers in the country and as the third-best player overall in Wisconsin.
The New Orleans Saints used the 122nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to choose Toon, who was available in the fourth round. He was hurt before the start of the 2012 season, therefore the team put him on injured reserve. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, on November 30, 2014, he caught a ball from Drew Brees that ultimately led to his first career touchdown.
On September 1, 2015, the Saints placed him on injured reserve and subsequently terminated him. Once Toon was able to avoid being claimed by another team, the Saints put him on the injured reserve list. On September 8, the team removed him from the injured reserve and reached a settlement with him about his injuries.
He spent two years with the Saints, during which time he played in a total of 16 games, caught 21 passes for 283 yards, and scored one touchdown. On September 30, 2015, the St. Louis Rams added Toon to their practice squad as a member of their organization. Toon was released by the Rams on May 11, 2016.
