Steve Corino Bio, Life, and Career:

Steve Corino was born in Canada on May 29, 1973, and is a semi-retired professional wrestler who is presently working with WWE as a trainer and producer for their developmental area NXT. Corino was born on May 29, 1973. It was during his time with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) from 1998 to 2001 and Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2002 to 2006 and 2009 to 2016 that he gained the majority of his notoriety. Corino has once held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, the MLW World Heavyweight Championship, and the 1PW World Heavyweight Championship. In addition, he has held the AWA Superstars of Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship and the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship on two separate occasions each.

In addition to these titles, he has held a number of titles on the indie circuit, as well as the ROH World Tag Team Championship once during his career. In 1994, Corino began his career as a wrestler, and he competed on the independent circuit for a total of four years. During this period, he was a member of the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA), which was a promotion that was directed by Matt and Jeff Hardy. Corino started using a character that was against hardcore wrestling on the indie circuit because he believed that if he did not compete in hardcore matches, he would have a better chance of gaining work. He acquired expertise by working in Puerto Rico for the WWC and used the ring name Lightning Kid (which was a gimmick that Sean Waltman had previously worn). He also made several appearances for the WWF as a jobber during this time.

On April 24, he became the new champion of the NWA World Heavyweight Division. Corino maintained his battle with Rhodes in his Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling brand as well as in Southern Championship Wrestling. Additionally, Corino was a member of the Extreme Horsemen along with C. W. Anderson and Barry Windham. Additionally, he participated in Major League Wrestling as a member of the Extreme Horsemen alongside C. W. Anderson, Justin Credible, and Simon Diamond. Prior to the demise of MLW, the illustrious J. J. Dillon served as their manager for a short time. In addition to that, Corino was the last person to ever win the MLW World Heavyweight Championship before the promotion went out of business.

Corino made his debut in Extreme Championship Wrestling in the role of a heel manager in the year 1998. As a result of his “King of Old School” gimmick in ECW, he stood out from the crowd. In this role, he made fun of hardcore wrestlers, even interrupting a Limp Bizkit event to voice his disapproval of their unethical behavior at one point. Late in the year 1999, Corino hired Jack Victory to serve as a manager, and Jack Victory also became an advisor to Tajiri and Rhino. After that, he got into a fight with Dusty Rhodes, who ultimately prevailed in a brutal bullrope match against him at Living Dangerously.

Jerry Lynn defeated him at the Heat Wave 2000 tournament. After that, Corino went on to win the ECW World Heavyweight Championship on November 5, 2000, at November to Remember by defeating Justin Credible, Sandman, and Champion Jerry Lynn in a Double Jeopardy match; then to successfully defend it in December at Massacre on 34th Street (against Jerry Lynn and Justin Credible in a three-way dance), and at Holiday Hell 2000; then to successfully defend it on November 5, 2001, at November to Remember by defeating Sandman and (against Justin Credible and The Sandman in a three-way dance).

Corino quit ECW on January 7, 2001, the same night he was defeated by The Sandman for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship at Guilty as Charged 2001. The reason for his departure was that the business had repeatedly failed to pay him his wage. Even though he was scheduled to make his debut at the World Championship Wrestling event that was the third to last Pay-Per-View (PPV), his friend Dustin Rhodes was able to get him a contract in the promotion, but he was never able to make an appearance. Corino’s wrestling contract was terminated in March 2001, shortly after World Wrestling Entertainment acquired WCW and gained control of the company. After that, he competed in the ring for a number of different regional National Wrestling Alliance promotions.
