Stevie Richards Bio, Life, and Career:

As Eastern Championship Wrestling evolved into Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1992, Stevie Richards made his professional wrestling debut there. While Scott Levy was on his way to ECW, he began wrestling as Stevie Flamingo, a parody of Levy’s earlier wrestling character Scotty Flamingo. Levy made his debut as the no-nonsense Raven and promptly corrected Richards. Richards quickly turned into Raven’s lackey, constantly addressing Raven as “boss.” He and Raven are the only tag team to have ever won the ECW Tag Team Championship twice.

Steve Richards is an innovative film producer who has contributed significantly to the production of 40 or more full-length motion pictures. Among his many film credits include the box office successes “The Matrix Reloaded,” “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” “Project X,” “The Book of Eli,” “RocknRolla,” “Unknown,” and “Non-Stop.”

Richards established Endurance Media in the fall of 2014, with a $250 million funding structure, to develop and finance movies costing between $20 and $60 million. During its first year, Endurance plans to develop and fund two to three movies. As the business gets started, it has formed a strategic partnership with Entertainment One Films to distribute Endurance movies worldwide.

Over the past 20 years, Steve Richards has served as the company’s Co-President and Chief Operating Officer, providing invaluable leadership and insight in the areas of producing, corporate management, film production, financial structuring, capital procurement, and strategic business growth.

Since 1995, when Richards was at the helm of Silver Pictures, the company has produced and distributed a plethora of great films, including the innovative “Matrix” trilogy and the hugely lucrative “Sherlock Holmes” franchise. During Richards’s time at the helm, the firm generated nearly $5 billion in worldwide box office income, shifting its focus from studio production to boutique production and distribution.

Richards widened Silver Pictures’ network of partners and oversaw crucial partnerships with titans of the entertainment, media, and other industries such as Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., Warner Home Video, Cartoon Network, Village Roadshow, HBO, Mercedes Benz, Heineken, GM. Richards established a crucial strategic partnership with StudioCanal in 2012, and the two parties have since worked out a first-look, multi-year film production arrangement under which Universal Pictures will distribute up to six films they make.

During Richards’s time at Silver Pictures, the company raised $240 million from a wide variety of institutional investors and lenders in order to develop more than 10 features for international distribution by Warner Bros. Richards had previously worked as a manager for the publicly traded International Movie Group and the production business Scott Free, headed by Tony and Ridley Scott, before 1995.

Shortly thereafter, Stevie rechristened himself “Steven Richards” and became the leader of Right to Censor, a satirical organization modeled after the Parents Television Council. To recruit more members, Steven and his gang started kidnapping professional wrestlers and brainwashing them into joining. During its prime, the RTC included among its ranks such notable figures as Steven Richards, The Goodfather Ivory, Bull Buchanan, and Val Venis. After several months of operation, the group broke up.

The RTC’s intention was to clean up the World Wrestling Federation, which they saw as full of violence and dirt. The organization’s spokesman, Steven Richards, routinely made sexist comments about the condition of the group’s women and the strict regulations of hardcore wrestling.

His group grew in size over time, but they were unable to sway the tastes of those who admired sexually provocative women and violent violence. Despite this, the gang had individual success when The Goodfather and Bull Buchanan won the Tag Team Championship and Ivory won the Women’s Championship. Soon after the RTC broke up, Steven became a contender for the WWE Hardcore championship. On April 15, 2002, he defeated Tommy Dreamer and became champion, however on the same night he lost to Bubba Ray Dudley. On his 22 championship runs, he defeated Crash Holly, Shawn Stasiak, and even Raven, an old friend, and rival.

After discovering that wrestler Victoria was using a psycho gimmick in 2002, Stevie decided to join forces with her. They had an on-screen romance and frequently intervened in each other’s bouts to help the other win. They would also compete as a mixed tag team in contests. In 2004, he even went so far as to disguise himself as a woman and help Victoria win matches while going by the name “The Mystery Woman.”

The last few years of Richards’ WWE career were spent as a perennial jobber, with few victories and against competitors like Rene Dupree and Kevin Thorn. In his most recent triumph, he defeated Mike Knox. On August 15, 2008, WWE officially released Stevie Richards.

Even though Stevie Richards hasn’t won as many matches or held as many titles as some other wrestlers, he’s still considered a major figure in the early days of the ECW. In addition to his comic appearances, he is well-known in the wrestling world for his prominent part in the heel organization Right to Censor. His path to wrestling stardom has taken several unexpected detours.
