Suzy Kolber Bio, Life and Career:

Suzy Kolber is the daughter of Gene and Sandra Kolber. She was birth on May 14, 1964, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States of America. Before enrolling at Upper Dublin High School, from which she graduated in 1982, she spent some time as a student at Sandy Run Middle School, located in Dresher,

Pennsylvania. After that, Kolber signed up to become a student at the University of Miami. In 1986, she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in telecommunications from the institution she attended. Kolber got a position as a sports director at Dynamic Cable in Coral Gables, Florida, while she was still an undergraduate student at the university. She worked there for two years, beginning in 1984 and ending in 1986. In addition to that, she was a member of the University of Miami’s water ski team during this period.

Suzanne Lisa “Suzy” Kolber is a co-producer, sportscaster, and reporter for television in the United States who ESPN presently employs. She has prior experience working for both Fox Sports and CBS Sports. Kolber was born and raised in Pennsylvania but got her master’s degree at the University of Miami. She began working in the entertainment industry in New York City at CBS Sports as a video coordinator. At WTVJ-TV in Miami, she was nominated for and won a local Sports Emmy.

Additionally, she had positions at WPLG-TV in Miami and WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach, both in Florida. She started working for ESPN in 1993 and was quickly promoted to become one of the network’s first anchors the following year when ESPN2 debuted. Following those three years, she moved on to a job at Fox Sports after working at ESPN2 for those three years. She went back to work at ESPN in 1999 and is presently the anchor of the program known as “Monday Night Countdown.” Following her graduation from college in 1986, Suzy Kolber took a position at CBS Sports in New York City as a video coordinator.

This was one of her very first jobs. Additionally, from 1985 through 1989, she produced the sportscast that aired on WTVJ-TV in Miami at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time (ET)—this position she held during this period. She worked as a freelance specials producer for WPLG-TV in Miami from 1989 through 1990. Her tenure there spanned 1989 and 1990. In addition, she was a producer for two other magazine programs: “Greyhound Racing America” in Miami, Florida (1988–1990) and “Cowboys Special Edition” in Irving, Texas (1990–1991). Both of these programs were broadcast in the United States.

In 1991, she saw an increase in her work as a sportscaster. She was a reporter and producer for Breeders’ Cup Newsfeed in Greenwich, Connecticut. Before that, she was an on-field producer for ‘Inside Edition’ in New York City. She also worked as a sports specials producer for WCIX-TV in Miami and as a producer and director for NFL Films. She began working at WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida, in December 1991 and remained there until December 1993, when she held the positions of weekday feature reporter and weekend sports anchor. In 1993, she resigned from her position at WPEC-TV to take a job at ESPN. She was one of the first anchors hired by ESPN2 on its first day of operation, October 1 of that year.

She was a correspondent for ESPN’s “Extreme Games” in 1995 and 1996. In addition, she has been a host on SportsCenter and NASCAR Countdown, and she has also been a reporter for College GameDay. It was in November of 1996 that she decided to leave ESPN to pursue employment with Fox Sports. When she first started working for the channel, one of her responsibilities was hosting “Fox Sports News” on the Fox Sports Net, a relatively new network. Her other tasks included reporting from horse racing events and covering games of the National Football League.

She collaborated with Pat Summerall and John Madden on an episode of ‘NFL on Fox’ during the 1998 season for one game. During the 1999 season of ‘NHL on Fox,’ she also held the role of the studio presenter for the show. 1999 was the year when she rejoined ESPN. She was the first to host the Summer and Winter X Games in the same year, 1996. Following her comeback, she served as the presenter for each event twice, once in 2000 and 2001. A second time as the host of the Winter X Games, she was in charge in 2006.

She was a ‘Sunday Night Football’ reporter from 2001 through 2006, covering games from both the sidelines and the field. She served in both capacities for Monday Night Football from 2006 through 2010, first as a sideline reporter and then as an on-site host. In 2008, she became a mother. Kolber emphasized her wish to do more work in the studio even though she did not want to be apart from her kid for extended periods. ESPN complied with her request and began broadcasting NFL32 in September 2011, with her and Chris Mortensen serving as hosts. She maintains her role as a producer for the Monday Night Football exhibition.’

In 2014, Kolber became the new host of “ESPN Monday Night Countdown,” taking over for the sick Stuart Scott, the previous host. After a year, she supplanted Scott in his role as an on-site host in a permanent capacity. Kolber took up hosting duties for the program on March 23, 2017, succeeding Chris Berman in that role. While working at WTVJ-TV in Miami as a producer of the sportscast that aired at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), Suzy Kolber was honored with a local Sports Emmy in 1988. The Maxwell Club’s Sports Broadcaster of the Year Award was bestowed to her in 2006.
