Alie’s real name is Alison Ann Ward, and she was born in San Francisco, California to accountant mother Nancy and reporter father Lawrence. She is the younger of two sisters, Celeste and Janelle. At the age of eighteen, she enrolled in the biology program at the University of California, Santa Barbara with the goal of becoming a biological illustrator. She eventually switched gears and went to film school in order to relocate to the Los Angeles area.
In Los Angeles, outside a tragically cool dive bar, Alie Ward and Georgia Hardstark met and instantly became great friends. Alie, a staff writer for the LA Times who covers the nightlife and events, and Georgia, a part-time blogger and full-time miserable receptionist, became fast friends and often met for drinks after work. They mockingly drew up instructions for a McNuggetini on a cocktail napkin and filmed a ridiculous instructional video while dressed to the nines. The result was an instant sensation that was covered by media outlets as diverse as the New York Times, Times, CNN, and Perez Hilton.
When Ward was a film student in San Francisco, he tried out for an episode of Nash Bridges, which was shot there. Three full seasons of the show featured the character repeatedly. Ward moved to Los Angeles and kept acting on television while also pursuing his other artistic passions, writing, and painting. She has made guest appearances on a number of popular shows, including Grey’s Anatomy, King of the Hill, and Key & Peele, on Comedy Central.
Ward and her best friend Georgia Hardstark joked about and made up a drink they named the McNuggetini in an L.A. dive bar called The Roost in early 2009. Hardstark discussed it in his blog post for This Recording.

Classy Ladies with Alie & Georgia is a Cooking Channel Web series in which the duo dons beautiful gowns, act like refined ladies, and learn a new recipe each episode.
