Ashley Flowers Bio, Life, and Career:
Ashley Flowers is an American podcaster, writer, and non-profit organization founder. Her most popular work, the true-crime podcast Crime Junkie, brought her a lot of attention. Flowers’ first novel, titled All Good People Here, was released in August of 2022 and quickly became a bestseller on the New York Times list. Flowers, when she was younger, entertained the notion that she would one day have a career as a cold case detective as a result of her interest in reading mystery and crime novels like the Nancy Drew books and watching television shows like Matlock. Flowers began her career in the field of biomedical research and went on to work in sales for a firm that manufactures medical devices.
Her childhood friend Brit Prawat suggested that Flowers listen to the true-crime podcast Serial while she was commuting to and from work. Flowers did so, and among the programs, she listened to was Serial. Flowers began working for a software company in the business development department in the year 2017. Ashley Flowers holds a job in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she also resides. Josie is Flowers’ daughter, and the family dog, Charlie (Chuck), is the inspiration for the name of the podcast network that Flowers runs, Audiochuck.
Flowers, who had previously been involved with Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana as a volunteer and later as a board member, was questioned about the organization’s potential to engage younger people. Flowers created a program called “Murder Monday,” which was a twenty-minute program that was broadcast on a local radio station. Each episode focused on a different situation. Flowers was the host of Murder Monday for one year before collaborating with Prawat to create Crime Junkie. In 2017, Flowers established Audiochuck LLC, a podcast network that focuses solely on the production of real crime-related podcasts. Flowers provided the company with an initial operating capital contribution of $13,000. Flowers then sourced revenue from Patreon members and advertising from AdLarge Media. Since 2017, Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat have been serving as co-hosts of the flagship podcast of Audiochuck, which is titled Crime Junkie.
During its first few years on air, Crime Junkie amassed a considerable fan base. Flowers and Prawat have announced that they will go on a nationwide tour in the month of July 2019. In 2019, Flowers and Prawat were accused of plagiarising other works, such as newspaper articles, other podcasts, and an episode of the television show On the Case with Paula Zahn, for episodes of Crime Junkie. These accusations were made by several parties. Some of the material was presented word for word, while in other instances, only a few words were altered. Flowers removed at least five episodes of Crime Junkie as a response to the allegations made by The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the subsequent legal action taken by Flowers. Flowers told Variety that the series’ “original material could no longer be retrieved or properly cited.” Flowers was the executive producer of the show.
Flowers and Prawat experienced unfavorable criticism on Apple Podcasts criticizing the absence of acknowledgment on the episode. According to reports, the episode of Crime Junkie airing in August 2019 mentioned a dozen different sources. According to findings published by Edison Research in the spring of 2022, Crime Junkie was the second-most-listened-to podcast among audiences in the United States. In 2021, Flowers acted as a middleman to facilitate a deal between Audiochuck and SiriusXM. Crime Junkie is one of the 16 podcasts that are part of the network that Audiochuck operates as of the month of July 2022. Ashley Flowers launched a new podcast titled “The Deck” on the Audiochuck network in February 2022. Ashley Flowers is the host of this podcast.
Its episodes, much like those of Crime Junkie, investigate real-life crimes such as homicides and the disappearance of people, but they concentrate on unsolved mysteries with scant evidence. Ashley Flowers established the non-profit organization Season of Justice in June 2020. The organization awards funding to laboratories in order to fund DNA testing with the goal of solving cold cases. In 2021, Season of Justice was granted tax-exempt status under section 501. As of July 2021, the charitable organization had contributed more than $225,000 to individuals and families affected by 31 unsolved homicides.
