Brandon Routh Bio, Life, and Career:

Brandon Routh was born on October 9, 1979. Although he was the third child of his parents, he was the third of four children in his family. His father was a builder, therefore he got into the trade. Brandon, who grew up in a somewhat unremarkable area, never saw acting as a viable profession for him. He always had a strong desire to be onstage. Later in life, he developed an interest in music and started taking trumpet and piano lessons. Very quickly afterward, he made up his mind that he, too, would become a writer.

He went to both Norwalk High School and the Norwalk Theatre of Performing Arts, both of which he names as educational institutions he attended. When he first started out, he tried his hand at acting. He supplemented his salary by engaging in a number of extracurricular activities, including playing music and sports. An Iowa teen named Brandon can’t get enough of comic books, especially those published by the company known as “DC.” He had an inordinate affinity for the DC Comics heroes Batman and Superman. He was known to dress up as both “Batman” and “Superman” for Halloween parties.

Once Brandon graduated from high school, he intended to devote himself entirely to writing. He pursued a degree in English literature at the made-up “University of Iowa,” but he never stopped acting. His contemporaries often observed that he looked like Christopher Reeves, the actor best recognized for his role in “Superman” before Brandon’s time. His modeling career took off while he was still in school, and he was able to use the money he earned to finance his education.

After finishing his first year of college, Brandon moved to New York City to take advantage of the city’s thriving theater scene. Soon after, he touched down in Los Angeles. He arrived in L.A. and quickly found modeling jobs. In 1999, he was included in Christina Aguilera’s “What a Girl Wants” music video. Finally, after many auditions when he was not even called back, he landed a small part on the TV sitcom “Odd Man Out.” He landed a recurring part on the primetime serial opera “Undressed” the following year. He appeared in four episodes as a special guest star in the year 2000.

His appearance on “Gilmore Girls” was limited to a single episode in 2001. In the latter part of that year, he was cast in a recurring role on the daytime drama One Life to Live. In the latter, he portrayed ‘Seth Anderson. Rapidly increasing numbers of casting directors took note of Brandon. Soon after, he began to land guest-starring roles on popular television series like “Will & Grace,” “Oliver,” “Cold Case,” and “Awesometown.” In this era, “Warner Bros.” intended to reboot the DC Comics hero “Superman,” who had previously done well at the box office.

A new “Superman” picture has been in development at the studio for nearly a decade, but thus yet, no success has been achieved. The main issue of the picture was casting someone to take over Superman’s role from Christopher Reeve. Famous performers were considered for the role, but in the end director Bryan Singer went with a complete unknown. After a lengthy audition process, Brandon was chosen. He was hired in large part, he said later, because of his resemblance to the actor Christopher Reeve. In 2006, when this film first hit theaters, it was met with universal acclaim. However, audiences were unconvinced by the film, and it tanked at the box office.

Both sequels to “Superman Returns” were shelved after the film’s poor reception at the box office. However, Brandon Routh had already achieved fame at that point. His performance in “Superman Returns” earned him several nominations and several awards.
The independent comedy-drama film Fling, released in 2008, featured writing, acting, and producing contributions from Brandon.

Not long after, Brandon was cast as one of the numerous leads in the crime drama Life Is Hot in Cracktown. Brandon’s performance as a drug-addicted homeless man was praised by critics. In later years, he appeared in films like “Table for Three,” “Stuntmen,” and “Miss Nobody.” In the quirky action comedy film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, released in 2010, he plays the character of ‘Todd Ingram. The film did extremely well at the box office and was met with critical acclaim.

In the 2011 dark comedy “Dylan Dog: Dead of Night,” Brandon played the lead role. One of the most poorly regarded films in Hollywood history, it failed miserably at the box office. Brandon, who was playing a prominent role for the first time in a long time, was crushed when the movie bombed. And in 2015’s science fiction smash hit “400 Days,” he played the starring role. In spite of this, the film was a financial and critical failure.
