Desmond Elliott Bio, Life, and Career:

Desmond Elliot, sometimes known as Desmond Oluwashola Elliot, was born in Nigeria on February 4, 1974, and is a director and politician there. During the Nigerian General Elections that took place on April 11, 2015, he was successful in winning a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly for the Surulere Constituency. Elliot participated in a competition to become the ambassador for the Face of Hope Project, which describes itself as a “volunteer-based non-profit, non-religious, non-political organization established to give hope to the hopeless.”

Should he be selected as the winner, he will work toward eliminating “child illiteracy in Nigeria and Africa at large.” He was nominated for a best-supporting actor at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards and won the award for best-supporting actor in a Drama at the 2nd Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. Elliot’s father is Yoruba and is from Olowogbowo in Lagos Island, and his mother hails from Illah in Oshimili North, Delta State. During the Nigerian General Elections that took place on April 11, 2015, he ran for office in the Surulere Constituency and won.  Desmond was subjected to a barrage of criticism at the Stop SARS demonstration that took place in October 2020 for supposedly backing the Anti-Social Media Bill in Nigeria. This was an allegation that he had previously rejected when the news first began to circulate on social media.

He was seen fiercely denouncing social media users and influencers in a video that has gone viral and is spreading all over the internet. He also made the statement that the Nigerian state will be destroyed by social media if the Nigerian state does not take action to halt social media. His remarks were not received well by Nigerians on social media, and as a result, the well-known piece of Nigerian pidgin slang, “na Desmond Elliot cause am,” which literally translates to “It’s Desmond Elliot’s fault,” came into being.

But, a few days later he publicly apologized for his actions.
