Doug Benson Bio, Life, and Career:

Douglas Steven Benson is a comedian, marijuana rights advocate, television host, and actor who was born in the United States on July 2, 1962. He is best known for hosting the podcasts and TV series Doug Loves Movies (2006-present), The Benson Interruption (2010-2013), Getting Doug with High (2013-2019), and The High Court with Doug Benson. Benson was also a judge on the television show Getting Doug with High (2013-2019). (2017). As a comic, he has made regular appearances on television series such as Comedy Central Presents, Best Week Ever, and @midnight, and he has published a total of ten comedy albums, the first of which was titled Professional Humoredian and was released in 2008.

On the fifth season of the reality competition show Last Comic Standing, which aired in 2007, he participated as a participant. In 2007, he had a starring role in the documentary film Super High Me, which was about the use of marijuana. In addition, he has played supporting roles in a number of television episodes, such as Trailer Park Boys and You’re the Worst, as well as in a number of movies, including the role of Bane in The Lego Batman Movie, for which he provided the voice. Benson was born in San Diego, California, and spent his whole childhood there. His mother, Wendy (Young), worked as a pharmacy clerk, while his father, Robert Matthew Benson, was a salesperson and former English teacher.

Doug was an active member of the Grossmont High School drama department while he was a student there. During his junior year and senior year, he also worked with a friend on a number of short action and thriller films that were shot on 8 mm film. After completing his education at Grossmont College a community college located in El Cajon, he relocated to Los Angeles in order to pursue a profession in acting. Benson was brought up in the Methodist faith. Benson had a difficult time coping with vertigo and poor depth perception when he was a toddler as a direct result of his eyes being put too close together.

During the 1980s, he had parts as an extra in movies such as Blade Runner, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and About Last Night, and he was a backup dancer in the Disney theme park attraction Captain EO. In addition, he worked as a stand-in on a number of different film sets. Benson started performing stand-up comedy while he was living in Los Angeles as a result of a dare issued by two other friends. Both of them failed to appear; the first one did not show up, and the second one registered too late. Benson asserted, “I went in anyhow and did my three minutes of whatever I could come up with and people actually laughed.” Benson began his career as a stand-up comedian at the age of 22 when he began performing regularly.

On the other hand, he didn’t become a stoner until he was 28 years old, after playing a week’s worth of performances and using pot after each performance with Brian Posehn and Greg Proops. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he made his first television appearances as a stand-up comedian on programs such as Comedy Central’s The A-List and Two Drink Minimum. Additionally, he was one of the featured comedians in the cast of Joel Hodgson’s sketch-comedy pilot The TV Wheel, which was broadcast on Comedy Central in 1995. These early television appearances were made in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Writing on the game program Trashed on MTV in 1994 was one of the first jobs that Benson had in the television industry.

Benson, along with his fellow comedian buddies Arj Barker and Tony Camin, was a co-creator of the comedy stage performance The Marijuana-Logues and was a performer in the show. Alongside the rapper Redman, he also hosted the sixth annual Stony Awards for High Times. On the comedic compilation album titled “Comedy Death-Ray,” Benson had an appearance. Unbalanced Load, Benson’s second album, was issued by Comedy Central Records on August 4, 2009, and was titled after the title track of the album. On August 31, 2010, he released his third studio album, which was titled Hypocritical Oaf. Benson plans to release a new album every April 20 (with a following release date in the summer), for the greatest number of years in a row as is humanly possible. Potty Mouth, the fourth studio album published by Benson, was made available for purchase on August 29, 2011.

The pattern resumed with the publication of his fifth album, Smug Life, on July 3, 2012, and the release of his sixth album, Gateway Doug, on July 9, 2013. Both of these albums were released in the month of July. The second installment of the Gateway Doug series, named Gateway Doug 2: Forced Fun, was released by Doug on July 8, 2014. His most recent studio album is titled Promotional Tool, and it was released on June 9 of this year (2015). Doug Loves Movies, formerly known as I Love Movies with Doug Benson, is a weekly comedy podcast that was started by Benson in 2006. It is filmed in front of a live audience at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles. The show is normally taped once each week, and subsequent episodes are preserved on iTunes so that fans can listen to them without cost. Benson and his guests discuss both comedic films and comedic films in general.
