Merlin Mann Bio, Life, and Career:
Merlin Dean Mann III is an American author, blogger, and podcaster. He was born on November 26, 1966, in the United States. Merlin Dean Mann III was born on November 26th, 1966 in the city of Cincinnati, in the state of Ohio. New College of Florida awarded Mann with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In September of 2004, Mann founded 43 Folders and started writing exclusively for it. 43 Folders is a blog about “finding the time and attention to do your best creative work.” October 2011 was the month when the blog was most recently updated.
After publishing a series of articles on 43 Folders in 2006, in which he initially proposed the idea of an “Inbox DMZ,” Mann is credited with having first conceived of and then widely disseminated the “Inbox Zero” idea. The concept of achieving “Inbox Zero” is widely discussed on the website Lifehacker and has become linked to the productivity method known as “Getting Things Done.
In May 2015, Merlin Mann and Jim Dalrymple, a blogger who specializes in technology, launched a podcast called The Dalrymple Report. More recently, it has been rebranded as “The Dalrymple Report with Merlin Mann,” and it has continued up through its 32nd episode, which aired on September 15, 2015. In June of 2015, Mann launched Reconcilable Differences, a series of ten podcasts that he co-hosted with John Siracusa and were produced in collaboration with Relay FM. The series has since been expanded.
During the month of October 2016, Mann launched a podcast with Alex Cox and Max Temkin under the name Do By Friday. After Temkin’s departure in June 2020, the show went on as normal. Beginning in early 2009, Mann worked on a series of short videos titled “Most Days.” The first episode of The Merlin Show, a video podcast hosted primarily by Mann and devoted primarily to in-depth interviews, was released on February 26, 2007. Additionally, Mann is the creator and publisher of the long-running video short series titled “That Phone Guy.”
In the year 2020, Mr. Mann stated that the meaning of the term “empty inbox” has been misunderstood and that he does not keep his inbox empty. Beginning in the middle of the 2000s, Mann began contributing writing to Macworld, Make (the “Life Hacks” series, co-written with Danny O’Brien from February 2005 until November 2006), and Popular Science (Ask a Geek series, 2005 to 2007). Mann made the announcement that he was going to write a book on August 18, 2009, and it was going to be called Inbox Zero.
The book was going to be about “how to reclaim your email, your attention, and your life.” Since then, the book project has been scrapped altogether. In addition to that, Mann maintains a personal blog known as Kung Fu Grippe. In 2005, as a complement to his 43 Folders blog, Mann started the 43 Folders podcast, which is only occasionally updated with new episodes. In 2007, Mann launched You Look Nice Today, a comedy podcast that has since won multiple awards and bills itself as “A Journal of Emotional Hygiene.”
He collaborated with Adam Lisagor and Scott Simpson on the production of the podcast. The run of the show came to an end in 2015, but in its wake, the same cast and crew worked on the production of a show called California King in the year 2020. In addition, Mann was the producer of the audio podcast known as QPR: Quotidian Public Radio, which debuted in January 2009 under the tagline “audio comfort food for annoyed liberals in fleece.” Mann was a host on the MacBreak video podcast and a core host on the MacBreak Weekly audio podcast.
Both of these podcasts were produced by MacBreak. Since 2008, he has decreased the number of times that he has appeared in the series. Since the 18th of January, 2011, Mann has been a co-host of the weekly Back to Work podcast on 5by5, which is hosted by Dan Benjamin. In this podcast, the two of them discuss topics such as productivity, work life, and the true costs of doing business. Roderick on the Line is a weekly conversation that has been hosted by Mann since September 2011, when it was first introduced. Roderick is a musician and writer.
