Robert Ballecer Bio, Life, and Career:

Robert R. Ballecer SJ is an American Catholic Jesuit priest who currently works in Rome as the Assistant for New Evangelization for the Curia of the Society of Jesus. He was born in 1974 and is also known as the Digital Jesuit or by his handle, PadreSJ. He is a member of the Society of Jesus. In addition to his work as a tech podcaster, Ballecer once served as the host of the series This Week in Enterprise Tech and Know How… broadcast on the TWiT.tv network. Ballecer was born in Hayward, California, on May 29, 1974, but he spent the majority of his childhood in Fremont, California.

His parents moved to the United States in 1970, and he was raised in a Filipino household even though they were American citizens. In order to construct his own personal computer, he went trash diving in search of various computer parts. He was the administrator of an internet bulletin board throughout the 1980s. In the year 1988, he began his employment with R&A Professional Consultants. Ballecer received his education at Bellarmine College Preparatory and Santa Clara University, where he majored in computer engineering. During his time at Santa Clara University, he developed an interest in entering the priesthood of the Catholic church.

In his role as a priest, he led recruitment attempts to get more young men interested in becoming priests. Beginning in 2009, he served in the capacity of National Director of Vocation Promotion for the Jesuit Conference in Washington, District of Columbia. This position lasted for four years.
