Hank Klibanoff Bio, Life and Career:

Hank Klibanoff was born on March 26, 1949. is a former journalist who now works as a professor at Emory University in the United States. The book they wrote together with Gene Roberts, titled “The Race Beat: The Press, the Civil Rights Struggle, and the Awakening of a Nation,” was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in History in 2007. Florence, Alabama is the city where Hank Klibanoff was both born and raised. He began his career in journalism at a young age by delivering newspapers on a bicycle. After completing his high school education at Coffee High School in Florence, he went on to attend Washington University in St. Louis. There, he majored in English under the tutelage of Howard Nemerov and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.

He serves as a board member of the John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism, administered by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He is chairman of the board of VOX Teen Communications, an Atlanta non-profit youth development organization that provides teens an opportunity to write, design and publish a monthly newspaper and helps them develop the skills and resources to express themselves on issues important to them.
